The race is on!
I got back from India
late on the Saturday night just 4 days before Eurofest,
which started on the Thursday of that week. 4 full days remaining to assemble a
bare chassis, lots of parts all over my garage floor and various little plastic
bags containing nuts and bolts, into a working car! I figured that it only took
me 2 and a half days to dismantle the car, so there
was still hope!! All I could do was try, and at least
then if it didn't happen, I wouldn't feel bad for not having given it 100%. I
wonder how long it took the guys in the factory in Dunmurry
to assemble a DeLorean - probably only a couple of hours!
Anyway, I got up early on the Sunday
morning, drank a litre of coffee to offset the jetlag, and got to work. I
started by installing the front suspension - upper and lower suspension arms,
springs, shocks, hubs, steering rack and front sway bar. The suspension looked
really nice - clean and shiny after galvanising, freshly painted springs, sway
bar, steering rack and brackets, and all new bushings and ball joints. Mmmmm!
I also bolted on the rear
suspension arms...
My brother Maurice arrived from Galway
around 6pm that evening, and we
worked together on the brake lines and a few other jobs that evening. Maurice
had taken Monday and Tuesday off work, to come and help me reassemble the car.
Thanks Maurice!!
Here are a few pics!
